Philippe and Rachael Techel

Rachael Marwede and Philip Techel were married on October 2, 2021 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Herron. The ceremony was presided over by the Reverend Leslie Nye.

Rachael is the daughter of Janet Freeman and Alan Marwede and granddaughter of Patricia Williams, all of Alpena. Philip is the son of Sharon and Greg Techel of Gaylord.

Jessica Marwede, the bride’s sister, was the bridesmaid. The bridesmaids were Sarah Smith, Megan Barkley, Jenna Donajkowski and Amber Hibbler, all friends of the bride. Jackie Barnes, the groom’s sister, also served as bridesmaid. Aria Neumann, the bride’s niece, was a flower girl.

Jim Donajkowski, friend of the groom, was the best man. Andrew Marwede, brother of the bride, Trent Barnes, brother-in-law of the groom, and Patrick Techel, cousin of the groom, served as groomsmen. The groom’s friends, Joshua Hibbler and Heather Beckwith, also served as groomsmen. Jacob Neumann, the bride’s brother, and Matthew Shedlock, the bride’s uncle, served as ushers.

The reception was held at the Près Isle Lodge. Music was provided by the bride’s brother, Adam Neumann.

Rachael is a graduate of Alpena High School and Alpena Community College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in health care administration from the University of Phoenix. Rachael is currently studying for her master’s degree and is employed by Alcona Health Center. Philip graduated from Gaylord High School. He has been with M&M Excavating in Gaylord for 17 years as a heavy equipment operator.

The couple are currently residing in Alpena while their new home is being built in Près Isle.
